The History of Explosives and Blasting What is an Explosives Engineer? |
Explosives Museum and LibraryThe SEE Education Foundation is a non-profit educational foundation serving the explosives industry and the general public. The Foundation through its museum activities, houses a significant collection of artifacts, archival books, files, technical reports, maps, brochures, and documents. This is in addition to its reference library, headquartered in Cleveland, OH, containing one of the largest collections in the world of technical and non-technical literature, publications, videos, audio tapes, reports, case studies and more relating to the manufacture, transportation, storage, use and disposal of commercial explosives. The Foundation undertakes research, education, training and documentation. It also develops and funds seminars, media, educational materials, and programs directly, and in partnership with other industry organizations. For example, since its inception, the Society has sponsored and co-sponsored the production of the educational videos such as Explosives: The Power Tool, How Commercial Explosives Help To Shape Our Lives, co-sponsored with the Institute of Makers of Explosives and Nobel Insurance, intended to educate the public about how the use of commercial explosives improves the quality of life in our world today. And Understanding Vibrations from Blasting, developed by the Society's Public Education Committee as a video and DVD, and produced by the Foundation to compliment the Power Tools video and work to educate homeowners and others about the effects of blasting in their neighborhood. The World of Explosives website is another ongoing project designed to work hand-in-hand with the museum and library. It is being developed to demonstrate the spirit, heritage, interest, and value of commercial explosives nationally and internationally. Designed for the public, the site focuses on history, uses, projects, links, reference tools and more relating the commercial explosives industry. Guides and links to other sources of information will aid researchers and students and provide a quick reference tool. |
